It all started Saturday afternoon July 25th. I was at a baby shower 1 1/2 hours south of our home, I had fluid dripping down my legs..... so I called L & D and they told me to put on a pad and call back in an hour, so I did that, and when I called the pad was dry...... I got into my car and was about an hour away when I started having sharp pains. I immediately started freaking out, crying hysterically (whilst driving at 65mph down the freeway) I rang L & D and they told me as soon as I was in the city to come straight in. There was another Kaiser hospital that I "could" have gone to if I was one week further along but seeming as I was only 34w 5d they would not have taken me, as they have no NICU if something had happened.
By the time I got to the hospital at 5.27pm (I was at the baby shower ALL day!!! from 11.30 - 3.30) I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes for quite a few hours, they then slowed to every 4-6 minutes……. My cervix was closed when they first admitted me, by the second check I was ½ cm dilated… from there it didn’t dilate any further, however the contractions picked back up. The Dr did say that my cervix was thinning, but it also didn't progress any further.
They were going to discharge me numerous times (at 1am, then 2am, then 3.30am) but then contractions would pick up right when they were letting me go… finally (at 6.20am this morning) they decided that they would let me go even though I am still having contractions because my cervix had no change in the last 10 hours.
I am on strict instructions if the contractions pick up again (at the moment they are about every 10 minutes or so), or if I have any fluid I have to call immediately. I am now on minimal activity, and Cam isn't letting me go anywhere, not even to the grocery store across the street.
They said I am at that gestational period where they won’t stop labor but they also won’t bring it on.
I only slept from 3.30am-5.30am
Oh and Summer turned Friday sometime, at my appt Friday morning she was still transverse, but now she is head down!
