Today I had my 35 week appointment.
Everything is going great! her heartbeat was great! and the doctor is very impressed with her kick counts card.
I gained 7lbs in a month again, the doctor said its fine, it now puts me at a total of 27lbs with 5 weeks to go! I am measuring perfectly as well.
I spoke to the doctor about my concerns with my size, because at least once a day someone tells me how small I am, she said I am measuring perfectly and not to worry. She did say that she will be VERY surprised if I have a big baby, so I am not sure if those measurements we had done a few weeks back are accurate.
I do have to have an ultrasound at my next appointment, as they need to see if she has turned into the head down position (which she should already be in), she is still Transverse (sideways), I guess she is just comfy there.
We had our hospital tour on Wednesday evening, it was great!!!
They only have 8 Labor and Delivery rooms, and they are the "high risk" hospital for the Bay Area... so we have to call before we head in on the off chance they are full and can't take us we have to go elsewhere... she said Oakland or Redwood City (both about 30 minutes or so away).
They encourage you bring your own birthing ball (no idea what that is) and they said they have a laboring tub room that can be used as well, and they also have showers so you can labor in those as well.
They have 16 PRIVATE maternity rooms (or whatever its called after delivery) and one room with 2 beds. If I have a private room (fingers crossed) Cam and my mum can stay as they have a sofa and a pull out bed... however if I get the shared room, someone can stay but only if it's a female. The labor room has a pull out bed also.
They said I can do WHATEVER I want, I can bring my own food, I can have as many people as I want in my room before and after delivery, I can have as many visitors at whatever time I want (they are 24hrs).
They don't have a well baby nursery - which is fine with me as I didn't want her to go to the nursery anyway!
I forgot to ask about what level their NICU was, but they delivered 33 week old twins a few days ago (and they are the high risk hospital) so they must be the top - well I would assume so anyway.
The hospital stay will be 48hrs, unless I want to be discharged earlier, but they recommend I stay at least 24hrs. And they only will discharge the baby before 24hrs if the baby is given the ok by the pediatrician.
We have a breastfeeding class on Monday, which I am looking forward to!
