Wednesday June 30 I went to my 40wk appt and was measuring 34-35 weeks. The OB (who I hadn't seen before as mine moved a few days earlier) said it could be that he had dropped and was really low or that my fluid was low. She asked if I had had any issues with Summer and low fluid, they did an ultrasound and my fluid was 4, yes 4. I was induced with Summer because hers was low at 7 so 4 freaked me out.
She said I had to be induced as it was safer to get him out now than to wait around considering I was already 40wks.
She wanted me to go straight to L&D and I asked if I could go home first to say goodbye to Summer and get my bags etc and we only have 1 car which I had so mum would have had to have caught a cab up to the hospital.
I was given an NST which he failed the NST but I was allowed to leave if I signed a consent form and was back at L&D within an hour.
I called Cam and told him to leave work NOW then called my friend to set up plans for Summer then called my mum and told her I was on my way to pick her up.
Cam calls me and is stuck in the city, apparently someone thought it was a good day/time to jump in front of a train so they had shut the whole line that comes out to where we live... we are 45 mins fro Down Town San Francisco so no cab would take him as they wouldn't get back into the city for rush hour, he even offered double fare but no one would take him.
An hour later the track opened and he got on the first train, apparently he pushed his way to the front to get on!
We got to the hospital around 4.30 and they started pitocin at 7.30pm at 3pm I had been 2.5 cm and 80%.
Nothing really got going until 9ish that night.
I got an epi at 3-4cm LOL which was around midnight at 4am I was in unimaginable pain, I felt like I had to pee badly and had loads of pressure.
They checked me and I was 6cm, the pain was unbearable so they called the anethist back in and he gave me a shot of stadrol?? as there was NO way I could go another 4cm with no pain relief.... well a few minutes later the pain was still intense so they checked me again (it had only been 20 mins since I was last checked) and by golly I was 10 cm and ready to push.
Ashton's heart rate had been jumping from the 60's to the 200's for the last 5 or so minutes, they called in a high risk OB, a Pedi and had crash carts, scared the crap out of me and everyone in the room!!!! There was talk of an emergency c-section but he was too low so I pushed like I have never pushed before!! 12 minutes later he was born. The cord was wrapped around his neck and behind his shoulders like a noose (hence the heart rate issues).
Basically in 32 minutes I went from 6cm to him being born.
He was born July 1 and was 6lbs 15oz and 20 inches.
