Well I don't know if all of you know but I am a breastmilk donor.
I sent of 388oz on Monday to the milkbank. I knew it was given to hospitals for severely ill and premature infants but I did not know it was sold to the families who need it, it can sell for up to $3 an ounce.
I decided I did not want to continue to donate to this milkbank as I don't want my milk being sold.
I found another organization called Milkshare, they put you in touch with local families needing milk.
I made a post saying I had milk available and I got a few replies, I picked a family who have a gorgeous baby boy who is 4 months old.
They came over this morning to meet Summer and I, and also collected some milk I had in the freezer, as I still had a ton leftover that didn't fit into the container I sent the milk bank on Monday.
I am so glad I found this family - or they found me. I am so much happier knowing where my milk is going and who it is helping.
I can't wait for Summer to get a little older so she can play with the little boy.
Anyway I was just sharing my good deed.
=)
